Traditional Nigerian Ogbono Soup (Draw Soup)
The Treasure Pop Taste
At The Treasure Pop, we treat Ogbono with the respect it deserves. The secret to our soup is the quality of the Ogbono seeds, which we carefully melt into hot palm oil to achieve that perfect, elastic consistency without any lumps. We slow-simmer the base with rich stock, toasted crayfish, and smoked fish to build layers of flavor that are both smoky and savory. Whether you like it plain or with a touch of greens, our Ogbono is thick, “loaded,” and designed to cling perfectly to your Pounded Yam or Eba.
Quantity: Available in 2-Litre and 4-Litre large-format bowls. Note: Our standard Ogbono includes a rich mix of assorted meats. Please notify us of any specific dietary requirements before placing your order.
Ingredients
The Base: Premium Ground Ogbono Seeds (Wild Mango Seeds) and Pure Palm Oil.
The Flavor: Ground Crayfish, Stockfish, Smoked Fish, and Fermented Locust Beans (optional for depth).
Vegetables: A touch of fresh Spinach or Uziza leaves for an aromatic finish.
Proteins: A hearty medley of Beef, Tripe (Shaki), and Cow Skin (Pomo).
Storage & Reheating
Storage: Keep refrigerated (0–5°C) and consume within 3 days. Ogbono is very freezer-friendly and can be stored for up to 1 month without losing its “draw” or flavor.
Reheating: For the best results, reheat gently in a pot on the stove over low heat. If the soup has thickened too much in the fridge, add a small splash of water or meat stock to loosen it up. If using a microwave, heat in a covered bowl for 3–5 minutes, stirring halfway through.
