Traditional Oha (Ora) Soup

The Treasure Pop Taste

At The Treasure Pop, we treat Oha Soup with the reverence it deserves. True Oha is never cut with a knife; we follow the ancient tradition of shredding the leaves with our fingertips to prevent bitterness and keep the broth sweet. Our soup is built on a rich, palm-fruit base, thickened to a smooth, velvety consistency using pounded cocoyam (Ede). Every spoonful carries the earthy, fermented notes of Ogiri Igbo and the subtle spice of Uziza, creating a complex flavor profile that is both comforting and sophisticated.

Choose Your Treasure: Our Oha Soup is “caterer-style”—heavily loaded with a premium selection of proteins to ensure every serving is a complete meal.

  • Featured Proteins: Succulent Beef, tender Tripe (Shaki), chewy Cow Skin (Pomo), and the smoky depth of Stockfish and Dry Catfish.

Quantity: Available in 2-Litre and 4-Litre large-format bowls. Note: Due to the delicate nature of Oha leaves, this soup is prepared fresh to order. Please notify us of any food allergies before placing your order.

Ingredients

  • The Leaves: Fresh Oha leaves (hand-shredded) and aromatic Uziza leaves.

  • The Thickener: Pounded Cocoyam (or Achi for a silkier finish).

  • The Flavor: Pure Palm Oil, Fermented Locust Beans (Ogiri Igbo), Ground Crayfish, and Stockfish.

  • Aromatics: Yellow Habanero Peppers (Ose Nsukka), Seasoning Cubes, and Salt.

Storage & Reheating

  • Storage: Keep refrigerated (0–5°C) and consume within 48 hours to enjoy the leaves at their best. Oha soup can be frozen for up to 2 weeks.

  • Reheating: For the best experience, reheat gently in a pot on the stove over low heat. Do not over-boil, as this can darken the leaves and thin the cocoyam thickener. If using a microwave, heat in short bursts and stir gently.
